The state election is only 7 weeks away, but California's gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides' campaign against Arnold "You Are Like Girly-Men" Schwarzenegger is more of a feeble squeak than the promised roar of Democratic opposition. Except for the ubiquitious "Arnold Schwartzenegger = George Bush/George Bush = Arnold Schwarzenegger" tv commercial, the Dems appear to be waiting in the wings right now, for.... what? Where are the fiery speeches, the mudslinging gossip and in-your-face progressivism that won Phil the Democratic nomination? Did he use up all his energy in the race for that nomination? The constant bickering among the ranks that has so often characterized the Democratic party the past 6 years appears to have completely screwed up the Dems' chances here in California, yet again. It's obvious that Angelides did indeed waste his energy, and most of his money, in the race against Steve Westly for the Democratic nomination. There are about 3,527,358 reasons for why I think the leaders of the California Democratic party are complete morons for allowing this to happen. Shame on you people!
As the saying goes, it's not over until the fat lady sings. This is California, the birthplace of Hollywood-- the minions want a show. So unless Phil starts pulling out all the stops, I mean really breaking out the hard stuff -- you know -- televised rallies, speeches, unabashed mudslinging, the ripping of new ass holes, sword fights, confetti, lights, glitter, jazz hands: we're in grave danger of having this person elected governor of California once again.
Ugh.
I repeat.
Ugh, ugh, ugh.
